Entries Open For Burgham International CIC 3*

With only 3 weeks to go until Burgham International Horse Trials final plans are now in place. Course Designer David Evans and his team have been onsite this week working on the cross country tracks including continuing to implement the ground care plan in place for the July event.

David commented ‘Alongside the organising team, we sat down after the March event and made a plan on how we would achieve the optimum going for the July event. The ground has come back really well after March. We have implemented a regime including topping the cross country tracks, main arena and all working in areas much earlier than before. This should provide a better structure to the grass roots and better surface to jump off. We also employed grassland Management Company Suregrow UK who have provided us with both grass seed and fertiliser which has helped greatly.’

Burgham which runs from Thurday 30th July – Sunday 2nd August with classes from BE 90 right up to CIC 3* is now open for entries at www.bdwp.co.uk/bgm

Organiser Martyn Johnson commented ‘We are always looking at ways to further improve the event for competitors especially. David Evans and his team have done a fantastic job. We have also taken the decision today to employ a specialised contractor to come in and Veti-drain all 6 cross country courses.

We also plan to Verti-drain the Equine Products UK Main Arena, national dressage and all warm up areas. We will also have the BE aggravator at the event on standby if we need to do any additional work. We felt it worth investing the money into the ground management to provide the best possible going for the competitors to run there horses on.’

Others additions to Burgham in July include onsite stabling which can be booked at point of entry, BYEH and the return of British Show Jumping. The FEI CIC classes boost a prize pot of over £9000 with the Owen Pugh CIC 3* winner taking home £2000 and the Howard Russell Construction CIC 2* winner banking £1000.
