Impressive performances in the dressage arena today at the FEI European Championships for Ponies (Kaposvar, Hungary) see the British Charles Owen squad out in front of the team competition and three riders inside the top five – including gold medal position.
Georginal Herrling and SF Detroit lead the way for the British squad in first place after the dressage on a score of 40.9 penalties. Experienced team member Saffron Cresswell and Cuffessgrange Little Ric currently hold fourth place on 42.3 with fellow team rider Saffie Osborne, on Lord and Lady Blyth’s Little Indian Feather (pictured), hot on their heels with 42.8 penalties in fifth place.
Connie Gill and Hotshots make up the team riders and hold 17th place on a score of 48.8. The two individual combinations – Molly Faulkner with John Thorton’s Sycamore Lad and Oliver Jackson on Joy Jackson’s Daydream Fourteen – also put in great performances today scoring 49.2 and 54.1 for 20th and 28th place respectively.
After the first dressage phase the team hold the gold medal position with a score of 126.0 which is 4.2 penalties ahead of second placed France on 130.2 whilst Germany sit in third on a score of 140.5.
