In the penultimate event of the 2017 FEI Nations Cup series, Great Britain produced another fantastic performance in Waregem, Belgium, to take second place in the team standings. Franky Reid-Warrilow finished best of the Brits individually, taking sixth place on her own, Neil and Claire Reid-Warrilow and Bruce and Stephanie Gardiner’s Dolley Whisper.
Completing on a score of 180.5 penalties, the GB squad were just 8.5 penalties adrift from winners Germany who took home the maximum points with just one event remaining in the series.
Along with Franky, the team representing Great Britain in Waregem were; Sarah Bullimore (her own, Christopher and Susan Gillespie’s Valentino V, Georgie Spence (Mrs Suzanne Doggett and her own Halltown Harley) and Harry Dzenis (Mr Charles Macdonald’s Above Board). All four combinations produced competitive dressage tests and clear jumping rounds in the cross country phase securing Franky, Sarah and Georgie a top 15 finish after each taking just four jumping faults from the influential show jumping phase. Harry picked up eight faults from the show jumping and 16.4 time faults from the cross country to sit just outside the top 30.
Only ten points separate GB (590) and Germany (580) in the Nations Cup table, bringing the series down to the wire at the final event in Boekelo, Netherlands, on 5th – 8th October.
