This weekend the third leg of the World Cup Dressage 2017/2018 Western European League took place in Stuttgart, Germany (16 – 18 November). The sole representative travelling to South West Germany for Great Britain was LeMieux National Champion Hayley Watson-Greaves with her superstar partner Rubins Nite. Once again the successful combination enjoyed two great results in hot company.
In the Grand Prix test, Hayley and ‘Squeaks’ scored 70.060% to place 10th overall. On Facebook Hayley commented that ‘Squeaks was a little tense but he produced the goods.’ Taking the win was reigning World Cup and European Champion Isabell Werth with Weihegold OLD, they scored 82.080% to finish six percent ahead of fellow German team member Helen Langenhaneberg with the 15-year-old stallion Damsey FRH.
Hayley improved by two places in the Freestyle to finish eighth after achieving an excellent score of 75.515%. Once again speaking about her results on Facebook Hayley said, ‘Squeaks was a star today, scored 75.515% for eighth place at Stuttgart German Masters World Cup qualifier. First prize giving under spotlight. We survived!’ Isabell Werth and Weihegold OLD topped the class with a whopping 87.575% whilst Dorothee Schneider and Sammy Davis jr. moved into second improving on their fifth place Grand Prix finish from the previous day.
Round four of the Western European League will take place in Salzburg, Austria over the first week of December before the World Cup wagon arrives in Great Britain the following week for the highly anticipated London Olympia Horse Show.
