Burrough Green show rider, Georgie Shepherd and her ex-racehorse, Historical Giant, will be bidding for glory at this weekend’s Retraining of Racehorses Championship staged at Hickstead’s famous Derby meeting.
Twenty-nine-year-old Shepherd, who works as a part-time secretary at the Newmarket Equine Hospital bought Beanie, as he is known at home, out of training in November 2012.
Now a ten year old he is sired by the multiple Group One winning stallion Giant’s Causeway and started his racing career at trainer Aidan O’Brien’s Ballydoyle yard in Ireland and was later in training in Newmarket with Jane Chapple-Hyam and Ed Vaughan.
“The competition at Hickstead will be very tough but we will go there determined to do the best we can.”
