After impressive Preliminary rounds for this class, the National 6YO Championship Final shaped up to be a spectacular competition for the Championship title. This final was made up of two rounds in which competitors battled to qualify for the jump off. Each combination’s preliminary faults were carried forward into the final, making for an interesting event.
Due to her previous successful rounds and their contribution to her stellar final performance, Holly Broughman finished in both 1st and 2nd position with Roulette H and Elvis V respectively. Holly was overwhelmed with the results, she said: “I’m so pleased; I’m absolutely over the moon… It’s amazing and I’m so happy”.
The double ranking meant a lot to Holly as both horses were special to her for different reasons. Elvis V belongs to Holly’s family and she has ridden with him for several years, the bond she has with this horse was emulated in their stunning performance together.
Roulette H belongs to Downes Howard and qualified for the National 6YO Championship Final under Phillip Miller. Phillip was the 2013 Hickstead Derby winner and has had many successful experiences in all areas of showjumping. Phillip was due to ride Roulette in todays Championship but gave his ride to Holly as he was unable to attend. Holly was thrilled with the opportunity and has definitely done Phillip and Downes Howard Proud.
Holly said: “this is definitely my biggest win to date, I couldn’t have asked for more from them”. Holly’s humble response to the results and her genuine surprise at her own ability was wonderfully refreshing and allowed spectators to share her elation.
