Today saw a thrilling finale of the 2017 FEI European Eventing Championships in Millstreet, Ireland for Junior and Young Riders.
A fantastic effort from the Racesafe British Juniors today in the showjumping phase meant the team finished in silver medal position (pictured left with Chairman of Selectors Darrell Scaife) in the team rankings at this year's European Championships in Millstreet Ireland, as well as individual gold for Bubby Upton and Eros DHI.
The final Junior team top three results were as follows:
Individually the Racesafe British Squad finished as follows (* denotes team member):
An unfortunate withdrawal after the final horse inspection for Ireland’s Susie Berry meant that Alex Kennedy (who was Britain’s highest placed rider after cross country) started the day by moving up into silver medal position which she maintained with an expert showjumping round with Lissangle Cavaletto B.
All five of the British squad riders finish with a top twenty result. Britain held their own in a very close finish in the final team standings to take team bronze (team pictured with Chairman of Selectors, Alex Colquhoun).
Individual GB Young Rider placings (* denotes team member):
Sam Ecroyd*, 20 from Flintshire and Mrs Penelope Ecroyd’s nine year old gelding Tullaher Sunrise were eliminated after they sadly parted company at the second water complex in the cross country phase; neither horse or rider were hurt.
