This year’s prestigious awards has a new and exciting format, with the winners being be selected by a panel of previous champions, including Nick Skelton CBE, Anne Dunham OBE and John McEwen MBE.
The Animal Health Trust (AHT) is excited to announce this new addition to an already star-studded event. The judging panel will include equestrian icons, such as history maker Nick Skelton CBE (not only the oldest athlete to ever win an individual Olympic Gold, but it was also the first Gold that Great Britain has ever won); Paralympian Anne Dunham OBE (part of the most successful Paralympic team ever); Chairman of the FEI Veterinary Committee and first Vice President of the FEI John McEwen MBE; and the heart-warming Willberry Wonder Pony Charity. Alongside their fellow trophy holders, the panel will judge nominees for British Showjumping, British Dressage and British Eventing; and the Under 25s star of the Future.
“We’re thrilled to have our previous winners take on this vital role in crowning this year’s champions”, says Director of Fundraising for the AHT Kevin Clements. “We know that they will be able to apply their expertise and passion for the industry, to select worthy winners from our shortlisted nominees. This year will be as close as ever, so I do not envy their task at hand!”
“Having the celebrity panel this year is particularly poignant for the AHT as we are celebrating our 75th Anniversary in action,” continues Kevin. “Our research protects all equines, from elite competition horses, to beloved family ponies. Without the support of our guests and sponsors, we would not be able to continue our vital work in improving the health and welfare of horses now, and in the future. As always we hope to beat our fundraising achievements of the year before, so we keep our fingers crossed that our special guests can encourage others to help continue our support of the equine industry for at least another 75 years.”
The annual AHT UK Equestrian Awards will be hosted at The London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square on Tuesday 31 October. Tickets and tables are still available, but will be in high demand now that guests have the opportunity to share an evening alongside true equine royalty and their favourite stars.
