Endurance GB announce new Board members
The new Board was announced at the EGB AGM and comprises of 10 members. New to the Board will be Nicki Thorne and Esther Young, while Kerry Dawson and John Robertson were re-elected.
Esther is an experienced public servant who has worked as a manager for 16 years within a large Government department. She is a long serving member of Endurance GB and has been involved in the sport for over 20 years.
Esther commented that “I am delighted to be joining the board of EGB. I intend to help our organisers deliver a clear itinerary of events, developing these with our members throughout the UK and working closely in alignment with EGB values of inclusiveness, fun and animal welfare.”
Nicki Thorne is one of Team GB's most prominent riders, having represented her country at both the World and European Endurance Championships in the last two years. She is passionate about endurance at all levels and strongly believes that Endurance GB can offer both leisure and competitive riding that is fun and also delivered to world class standards. Nicki commented
"I believe in teamwork, and an honest and straight forward approach. I believe in change and in building a better future for the sport".
Founding Chairman, John Hudson, announced he will retire from the Board at the end of 2017, one year earlier than his 3 year term. He added that "whilst I thoroughly enjoy my work with Endurance GB, it is time to tick some of the things off the bucket list! I have decided to make the announcement now, so that there is plenty of time to allow for succession planning and a seamless handover in November 2017".
