At the British Showjumping National Championships and Stoneleigh Horse Show the Wright Hassall Under 16 Championship Final got underway following several exciting preliminary rounds which took place earlier in the week.
The crowd were extremely supportive of the rider – horse combinations and the lively atmosphere made for an enjoyable showcase. The Championship title was awarded to the talented Josh Bridge who completed the jump off in a magnificent time of 43.70 seconds, a remarkable 4.31 seconds faster than the runner up.
Josh achieved a double clear after a quick start off the mark. His winning companion, Burello W, was extremely agile and expertly handled the sharp turns necessary for their successful time. The round was carried out with confidence and poise with a near perfect performance.
The runner up, Charlie Jones riding Hattrick Magic, completed the course in a respectable 48.01 seconds and also achieved a double clear. Charlie started the jump off incredibly quickly and recovered well after clipping a rail half way through the round. His control and composure was impressive for a rider of his age.
Josh said “I’m really pleased with the win, he jumped really well. He’s been jumping all week so I thought he would be tired but he’s just progressed by the day”. Josh and Hattrick Magic have only been working together for 2 months which make the win even more impressive.
The talent showcased in this class is both promising and exciting. The future of showjumping looks incredibly bright with these stars leading the way.
